December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, is an international celebration supported by the United Nations since 1992. The celebration of the day aims to promote understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also aims to raise awareness of the benefits to be gained from the integration of disabled people in all areas of political, social, economic and cultural life.

As Afghan Refugees Solidarity and Assistance Association, we organized an event on 7th of December, in Kayseri Özkar Special Education Practice School in cooperation with UNHCR and Kayseri Provincial Directorate of National Education. Kayseri Provincial Assistant Director of National Education Osman Karaca, Kayseri Provincial Director of Migration Management Ahmet Danışman, children with special needs, teachers, some parents and local press attended our event.

Our event started with the opening speech of Md. Zakira Hekmat, ARSA Association President. Afterwards, Bülent Köse, Director of Özkar Special Education Practice School, gave a speech about the children with special needs at the school and their education life. After Mr. Köse's speech; Osman Karaca, Provincial Director of National Education gave a speech on the meaning and importance of the day. Afterwards, our colorful activities for children started. First, the cartoon character mascots performed sports activities with the children, then they danced to the music and played various games with the clown. In addition, a face painting activity was held and balloons were distributed to the children. The cartoon character costumes worn by the interns and employees of the association attracted great attention from the children. Children were given small gifts and refreshments at the end of this event.
