In collaboration with Mehmet İlgü Primary School, the Asylum Seekers and Refugees Solidarity Association (ARSA) organized an engaging “Life Skills” session designed to strengthen students’ social relationships and communication abilities. The training was planned for 4th-grade students and conducted in groups of ten.
In the first session of the program, students explored the question “What makes a good friend?” Together, they discussed fundamental values such as empathy, sharing, respect, and helping others, and experienced the concept of “good friendship” through interactive games. The students also learned about the concept of “Personal Space” and, through the “Personal Space Circle” activity, reinforced their understanding of boundaries and self-expression.
At the end of the workshop, students carried out the “Friendship Contract Tree” activity to make what they learned more memorable. Each student wrote down their own friendship promise and hung it on the tree, thereby strengthening feelings of solidarity, trust, and belonging within the class.
This activity enabled students to both learn and have fun while building stronger bonds of friendship. ARSA Association will continue to support children’s social and emotional development through similar activities in the upcoming period. The second session of the “Life Skills” program will soon reunite with the students.
