The 2023 Humanitarian Aid and Leadership Conference which is supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Aid, and Oxford HR titled "Following the Money - Turning Localization Funding Commitments into Action to Support Local Humanitarian Leadership", was jointly organized by the Turkey Refugee Council (TMK), the Localization Advocacy Group (YSG), and Development Initiatives (DI), and took place on Tuesday, April 26 at 5:30 pm. Speakers at the conference included MD. Zakira Hekmat on behalf of the Afghan Refugee Solidarity Association and the Turkey Refugee Council, Sema Genel Karaosmanoğlu on behalf of the Support to Life Association, and Frances-Girlig Morris on behalf of Development Initiatives. Participants shared their views and suggestions on the challenges faced by local and national organizations working with refugees in Turkey, as well as in the context of earthquake response, and discussed good examples of local leadership in humanitarian aid.
