On Thursday, June 27th, 2024, members of the Turkish Refugee Council in Ankara enthusiastically celebrated World Refugee Day. The event, led by Dr. Zakira Hekmat, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Refugee Council, brought together representatives from relevant public institutions, civil society organizations, academics, and the press under the theme "Fair Living for All." The aim was to raise awareness of the demands and rights of refugees in Turkey.

Representatives from the UN, embassies of Canada, Australia, the UK, and the Netherlands also participated in the event. It aimed to bring together refugees and host communities to contribute to decision-making processes in national and international policy processes that affect life at the local level.

Held under the theme "Fair Living for All," the event called for a just and fair life in accordance with human rights. It concluded with a press release, a reception, and an exhibition featuring artwork by refugee friends.
